AmesMUG is a special interest group in Ames at Iowa State University centered around the Macintosh computer and other Apple related technologies such as the iPod, iTunes, iLife, Mac OS X, and third party software that runs on Apple products. We engage in various activities such as bi-weekly meetings, LANFESTs, mailing lists and other events.

Membership is open to the public (you don't even have to be affiliated with ISU). The mailing list is open to anyone as well. We ask for a $10 membership fee per semester. Being a paid member gives you free access to LANFEST and the opportunity to take home Apple swag when it's available at meetings as well as other perks.

LANFEST

LANFEST is a LAN (Local Area Network) party held the weekend before deadweek every semester. The event usually runs over night from 7 PM to 3 AM when we play network games such as Unreal, WarCraft, and Rise of Nations. The party is open to anyone (Mac or PCs) who has paid dues for the semester or pays a $5 cover charge. There is also pizza, pop, and snacks provided at the event every semester.
