By configuring Address Book to be able to look up ISU information, programs that use Address Book (like Mail) to look up information in the ISU phone book. So, when configured Mail can look up someone's ISU email address as you are composing a message without you having to launch a web browser or look it up somewhere.

1. Open Apple's Address Book application
2. Go to Address Book -> Preferences...
3. Click on LDAP
4. Click the plus sign to add a new LDAP server
5. In the Name field enter a name for this server (Example: Iowa State)
6. In the Server field enter ldap.iastate.edu
7. In the Search Base field enter dc=iastate,dc=edu
8. Leave the rest of the information alone and click Save
9. Close the Preferences window
10. Click on Directories in Address Book
11. Search for a name in the search field and results should display
