AmesMUG: Best Wireless Base Station

Hey Everybody,

Im wondering what's worked best for everybody here. Basically my  
parents have broadband and now want to extend the internet to the 2nd  
floor of the house and there are no ethernet jacks installed  
anywhere. As they are now primarily using a Mac Mini Core Duo as  
their  main computer (in the basement where the base station will  
need to be as well) and generally do not use the windows machines  
anymore I suggested the Airport Extreme Base Station as it's probably  
easier to setup and maintain and doesn't require windows to set it up.

I just don't know how much better or worse it works in relation to  
something like a Linksys wireless router ( http://www.newegg.com/ 
Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190 ). I guess im asking if the  
Apple base station is worth it or why you would need it over other  
wireless routers?

All I want to do with this is share a wireless connection with WPA  
access and SSID broadcasting off (ie not broadcasting the network  
name but still allowing you to connect to it.) The other machine  
connecting to this would primarily be a Mac laptop but the ocasional  
PC laptop may also need to log on.
