ISU email on OS X Mail via Gmail

Forward your ISU mail to Gmail
1. Go to asw.iastate.edu, log in with your ISU net ID and password
2. Click Manage user mdmart1
3. Click View/Edit your email delivery
4. Select "Forwarded to email address" and type in your Gmail address
5. Click Update Now, then logout.
You should get a confirmation email at your Gmail address from ISU, saying your mail is forwarded to that address. These changes actually take place at midnight.
Setup Gmail
1. Log into Gmail
2. Click Settings (top right corner)
3. Click "Forwarding and POP"
4. Check the "Enable POP for all Mail"
5. Save Changes
6. Go back to Settings
7. Click on Accounts
8. Click "Add another email address"
9. Enter your ISU email address, click Next, then click Send Verification
Now you should get an email at your ISU address from Gmail, to verify that it really is your email. Click on the confirmation link in that message
10. Log back into Gmail, go back to Settings...Accounts
11. Click "make default" next to your ISU email address
Setup Mail
1. Launch Mail. If it is the first time you've launched it and it asks you to setup a new account, skip to step 4.
2. Under the Mail menu, go to Preferences
3. Click the Accounts section, then click the + button in the bottom left corner
Under Account Type, select POP
Enter an Account Description, like "Gmail"
Enter your ISU email address in the "Email address:" field
Click continue
For "Incoming Mail Server", enter pop.gmail.com
Fill in "User Name" and "Password" with your Gmail username and password
Click continue
For "Outgoing Mail Server", enter smtp.gmail.com
Check Use Authentication, and enter your Gmail username and password
Click Continue and Finish
Now you can check your ISU email with Mail on your Mac. If you are away from your own computer, use www.gmail.com to check your email (instead of webmail.iastate.edu).
Use Address Book to Search ISU Phone Book

ArticleBy configuring Address Book to be able to look up ISU information, programs that use Address Book (like Mail) to look up information in the ISU phone book. So, when configured Mail can look up someone's ISU email address as you are composing a message without you having to launch a web browser or look it up somewhere.
1. Open Apple's Address Book application
2. Go to Address Book -> Preferences...
3. Click on LDAP
4. Click the plus sign to add a new LDAP server
5. In the Name field enter a name for this server (Example: Iowa State)
6. In the Server field enter ldap.iastate.edu
7. In the Search Base field enter dc=iastate,dc=edu
8. Leave the rest of the information alone and click Save
9. Close the Preferences window
10. Click on Directories in Address Book
11. Search for a name in the search field and results should display
